How Tall Is Ja Morant Exactly?
In basketball, a player’s height usually plays a pivotal role. It gives an upper hand in shooting baskets and blocking shots, not to mention those electrifying slam dunks. So, how tall is Ja Morant anyway? Well, he towers at an admirable height of 6 feet 2 inches! However, this man isn’t the tallest player in the NBA, as there are others who tower over him. When it comes to Ja Morant, it’s more than just height that makes him stand out in basketball. His skills and passion play a massive part, too.
Ja Morant is known to be quite a marvel on the court. His skill, knack for handling the ball, and jumping prowess are all amplified by his physical frame. In fact, he can jump more than 40 inches in vertical tests. These numbers put him among the best NBA players who can jump really high. To understand how awesome this is, let’s talk about Michael Jordan, an all-time famous basketball player. Michael Jordan could jump up 48 inches.
Now, Ja Morant may not jump as high as Michael Jordan, but his jumping skills and quick moves help him put himself at the same levels as such famous NBA figures. On the court, he always performs to his limits. Thanks to his brilliant skills, he has accrued a lot of fame in the NBA. In 2020, Morant was named NBA Rookie of the Year. His persistence, sheer skills, and quickness have made him stand out and become a favorite among fans and fellow players.
Average NBA Player Height
When talking about Ja Morant’s height, it’s important to discuss how he compares to other NBA players. On average, most NBA players are about 6 feet 7 inches tall (200cm), which is pretty tall! Although this might make Morant seem shorter, basketball isn’t all about how tall you are. In fact, the NBA features players of different heights.
Let’s look at how point guards, just like Ja Morant, run the show on the court. They don’t need to be towering giants. Some of the best point guards out there are around Morant’s height or even shorter! Think about Chris Paul (6 feet tall), Allen Iverson (6 feet tall), and John Stockton (6 feet 1 inch). These three players were great point guards and around the same height as Morant.
How Ja Morant’s Height Help Him
There’s no denying that Morant’s height gives him some advantages. They include:
- Speed and Agility
Due to his stature, he possesses greater agility, which enables him to change his direction with remarkable ease on the court. This exceptional agility assists him in crossing the defenders to generate more scoring opportunities for his team.
- Defensive Versatility
When it comes to the defensive end, his height can be an advantage. Morant’s lower stature enables him to get low, thus offering tighter defense and making it more difficult for the opposing team players to go past him.
- Balancing Act
Ja Morant might not be as tall as the average NBA player, but you know what? It doesn’t matter. That gives him a cool advantage — a lower center of gravity. Now, you might wonder, what’s the big deal about that? Having a lower center of gravity means Morant has incredible balance and stability. Imagine trying to knock someone over when they’re steady on their feet; of course, that’s not an easy task! So, when Ja is running towards the basket, defenders find it tricky to push him off. His lower center of gravity acts like a secret weapon, helping him stay strong in the game.
